no ill put them somewhere normal like the bonfire, where lavi is bundled up even though he's next to a fire and SWEATING. surely this will stop the weekly effect (no). instead, an absurdly long number is projected along his scarf,
he pauses, then]
How many weeks would you wait to sacrifice the forty people you've kidnapped to summon a god, and how long can a bar of soap last between seven people and one dog?
Honestly, where I'm from, that shouldn't take more than a day if you have the power to bring forty people from different places and worlds. But! It's not like we know their procedures. They might be super meticulous like wedding planners.
[ While wearing the darkest shade known to man, he watches Lavi cook himself like rotisserie chicken. ]
At the rate that you're sweating, that bar of soap's going to be a goner soon.
This weird magic really is something. I'd like to know how it works.
[ He will ball up the scarf for easy number jumble. A small phrase bleeds through his school uniform, "Are you strong because you're Gojo Satoru?" ]
Suguru and I dealt with a cult once... They were regular everyday people, though, but it's those grandiose ideas that are dangerous. [ Said nonchalantly, like it's just inconvenient. ] They were freaks that wanted a middle schooler assassinated. Kind of my only cult ritual experience!
[Lavi eyes the phrase, because he's a nosy little shit even though Gojo's doing him a favor by crumpling up his scarf... but he's momentarily distracted by this anecdote, HELLO?]
A middle schooler...? A kid? [he frowns at that. hello.] What did they think they'd get out of it?
[HE'S NOT SWEATING THAT MUCH though he is toasty. he eyes gojo for the pause, and then pulls a face]
I figured people would avoid coming too close to the fire.
[his attempt at being private..... gone.... but he does move to stand up, hand outstretched to tug the scarf from Gojo's fingers. the phrase 'the 49th' shines along his hand.]
[ He isn't that much taller, but this makes you better than Spoon. ]
I'm a student at Jujutsu Tech, Tokyo branch. [ Hmmm ] Someone's poster had a quote about exorcists, right? Even had the Japanese word for demon in their skills. I do the same thing, basically.
I'm an Exorcist, actually -- same as the guy with the quote. Akuma's the name for a specific monster where we're from -- killing machines powered by human souls. We fight those instead of real demons.
That's pretty intense! We deal with curses, but they're born from mankind's negativity. No human souls involved here unless it's a sorcerer that died and becomes a vengeful spirit.
Akuma can only be made from souls of the departed, called on by their loved ones. So as long as there's someone out there mourning, they can be turned into an Akuma.
Curses are everywhere, but non-sorcerers can't see them. They're usually the cause for things from lethargy to disease. Then there are the strong ones who actively hunt people.
[ It is what it is. Groan... ]
People love mourning, so it must happen a lot. Sounds annoying since people are actively involved.
And it's not something we can really warn them about. If they're faced with a danger they can't see or don't know, then they don't know that it's dangerous at all...
The Earl usually sends Akuma over to kill 'em. But the Vatican also thinks it's a holy mission from God that they need to uphold, and the rest of humanity's just the flock that needs protecting or whatever.

but he can touch the scarf... FOR NOW... Lavi looks down to see that stupid long-ass number on it, and grimaces.]
Guess there's no point in coverin' up if it's just gonna show anyway...
[DAMN.... he starts unwinding it, glancing over at gojo]
Have you been to a lot of rituals?

no subject
Does it matter? What reason is worth killing a kid?
no subject
I'm not saying there is. Just that I think it's important to know.
[speaking of things that are important to know]
Did they survive? The kid.

It's as nonsensical as you can imagine. [ So it isn't important. The results, though... There's a pause. ] No, she didn't.
Hey, why are you cooking yourself for?

[ Aw. He holds onto the scarf a bit longer, but it isn't that much resistance. You may have it back. ]
At least I don't think people are going to figure anything out as vague as "the 49th."
no subject
...Yeah, I know.
[to both of those things. except he does look at gojo like 'GRAVES'?]
I'll just stick it out. I don't want to shove Astarion out of a coffin anyway.

He doesn't sleep in the coffin, so you're good. Fussy guy!

[stop... Lavi reads the words, looks at Gojo. i guess he has to tilt his head up because I forgot Gojo is insanely tall,]
So what exactly do you do back home?

You'd think so. But the higher-ups are all the same, just an echo chamber of what they think is right.
You don't have any bosses like that? The super close-minded kind?
