We were like... Monster hunters, but for monsters that were once human. Our contract kept us reviving every time we died until we reached a monster killing quota. That is the gist of it—it all felt pretty real and I think we assimilated to it since I believed people there were just as real as my job as a hunter.
The monsters came out at night, though, and there were days we needed to recuperate, so we had to get shelter. We stole the chapel and its resources from this weird dude, but he was harmless.
